Vanessa is a project communications and community relations professional, who has worked across Northern NSW and southern Qld for more than 15 years. Her job has led to many conversations with small and large-scale fruit and vegetable farmers, from which she developed a love of ethical and sustainable farming practices (and a dream to one day own a little farm in the hills). She also recognised the need for a way to promote the incredibly diverse produce grown on small-scale farms and in backyards across the country, to reduce waste, and create connections with growers and those looking for locally-grown produce outside farmers’ markets, (which are not an option for many people). ‘Yard to You’ is the result; a new mobile phone app that aims to connect small-scale growers with seekers of locally-grown food, Australia-wide.
Vanessa is also passionate about urban/backyard food gardens, vegetarianism and ethics.
