Katie Grubb

Educator, co-host of the Mullum Heads podcast

For the past 20 years Katie has been activating change from within the education system and learning as much as she can about its parameters, design and political agenda.

Katie grew up in both regional Australia and countries such as Greece, Germany, France, USA, Mexico, just to name a few. And she didn’t commence school until year 6. Three university degrees later and fluent in Chinese (Mandarin), she is interested in demystifying the increasing fear paradigm surrounding education in our contemporary age.

Her teaching experiences have been quite varied and have included: teaching English in China, storytelling in Kenya, as well as yoga and environmental education. In 2007 Katie designed Simba Kids, a parent and baby development program involving music, art and body movement which was featured on Channel 10. In 2011 she wrote the entire education program from the Australian Marine Debris Initiative and delivered plastic-free life workshops to teachers and students across Australia and overseas. The education program was featured on an Australian television program 'Totally Wild'. In 2014 Katie won the NSW Premier's teachers award and went to China to research and deliver different education programs involving sustainability, popular youth culture and connection.

In 2015 she also launched the Connect with China Collaborative which was a series of climate change dialogues live streamed between Chinese youth and young people from USA and Australia.
