Indigenous cultural burning practitioner with Firesticks, women’s rights and First Nations activist
Rachael is a Minyungbal mibany woman, from Yugambeh Nation of northern NSW and south east QLD. She is passionate for Women's Rights and First Nations Issues. She works in the Environmental sector specifically in Caring for Country roles, with expertise spanning Aboriginal Cultural heritage, Natural and Cultural Resource management, Traditional Land Management, Cultural Fire Practices, Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations.
Rachael joined the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation at the beginning of this year, working on community programs and stakeholder engagement. She is currently a Member on the National Indigenous working Group for Forest Stewardship Council, Chair of the Clarence Valley Women’s Refuge, part of the working group for Our Watch Australia, has previously worked as the Aboriginal Partnership Liaison for the Forestry Corporation of NSW, and is a Cultural Advisor to many schools and community groups, providing support in building capacity and empowering Aboriginal communities by strengthening training and development opportunities in First Nation Communities.

In the epic Reparative Justice yarn towards the end of the final day of Renew Fest 2021, Rachael spoke about the Minyungbal people's efforts to buy back land for the continuation of Indigenous Cultural Practices through education, and caring for Country for everybody to enjoy.
