Founder of Sustainable Futures Australia, planner, educator, activist, musician

Pete Cuming is an eminent visionary planner, educator and activist with four decades experience across Australia and internationally. Pete has deep experience as a key facilitator, conference convenor, chair and member of resource management, nature conservation, health and education boards and committees. As a senior lecturer in sustainability and regenerative design programs, teacher of sustainable living, eco-village design, collaborative planning and nature connection for over 25 years, he empowers leaders, change agents and activists to work within and reshape our human organisational systems to better care for and regenerate the earth, its peoples, and first nations cultures.

A long-time earth regenerator and surfer-sailor, Pete synthesises many decades experience in healing and shamanic arts into his life work. An award-winning musician-composer, he collaborates and records with artists around the world. Among the hats he wears, Pete is founder and managing director of Sustainable Futures Australia and SFA Environmental Trust (since 1987); project manager and key planner for ‘Jagera’, an approved urban eco-village project on the NSW north coast ; co-founder of Foresthaven Environmental Education Centre; and an executive member of an international group EAROPH, auspiced by UN Habitat focusing on delivering global sustainability goals. A past director of key conservation and permaculture organisations, he is a recipient of state, national and international awards, including the International Permaculture Service Award.
