Brunswick Landcare, co-founder COREM, front line environmental activist
From a young age Dave was instilled with an awe of the natural world. This led to an interest in sustainability, a zoology degree, a strong sense of environmental justice and being involved in a range of campaigns and front-line actions against biodiversity loss and climate polluters. Dave has worked in ecological restoration in Byron Shire for over 20 years. He also volunteers with Landcare and has started up many local bush regeneration projects including along the Brunswick River near the Renew Fest site behind the Mullumbimby Showground.
What he finds most rewarding is working together with his Mullumbimby community to deliver sustainability initiatives. One of these is being the co-founder of COREM (Community Owned Renewable Energy Mullumbimby) and helping set up a revolving fund that has raised money to install solar on many local community buildings.
